Volunteer with Best Friend Dog and Animal Adoption, Inc

 

Most volunteer roles require you to be 18 or older, with a few exceptions for fundraising events.

 

We are a foster-based rescue without a shelter facility, so our biggest need is foster homes for cats and dogs. Fostering could mean:

 

• Caring for animals until they’re vetted and ready for adoption

• Socializing shy or neglected pets

• Helping special needs animals

 

We provide full support—including vet care. It’s a meaningful commitment, and yes, you might fall in love.

Other ways to help:

 

• Best Friend Thrift Store (Scotch Plains): 3-hour weekly shift, Wed–Sat (10am–4pm). Tasks include stocking, helping shoppers, and processing donations.

• Fundraising Events: From Tricky Trays to pet photos with Santa, we need help at both large and small events. Flexible and fun!

• Adoption Events: Help animals find forever homes. Great for occasional volunteers with experience.

• Dog Walking (Hillsborough, NJ): Sundays at 11am for experienced dog handlers only.
